Philippine Science High School (Pisay) is a prestigious educational institution dedicated to nurturing and developing the country’s brightest young minds in the fields of science and technology. It was established to provide world-class education. Pisay offers a rigorous curriculum focused on STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), fostering a culture of innovation, critical thinking, and research. Pisay is a cornerstone of the country’s initiatives to promote scientific achievement and intellectual growth because it equips students to succeed academically and expand scientific knowledge through its cutting-edge facilities, specialized programs, and committed teachers.
The Philippine Science High School System (PSHSS) is an attached agency of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) whose mandate is to offer on-a-free-scholarship-basis a secondary course with special emphasis on subjects pertaining to the Sciences and Mathematics with the end view of preparing its students for a Science career.
The first Philippine Science High School as established thru the Section 2 of Republic Act 3661 (An Act to Establish the Philippine Science High School). The first campus was established at Diliman, Quezon City.
The school was opened in a rented building owned by the Philippine Government Employees Association.
The school was relocated to its present campus (Main Campus) along Agham Road, Diliman, Quezon City.
To further expand the opportunities for students gifted in Science, Mathematics, and Technology in Visayas and Mindanao, the PSHS Mindanao Campus and the PSHS Visayas Campus were created through Executive Order No. 1090.
The PSHS System Law was further amended when RA 9036 consolidated the power and authority over all PSHS campuses into a single Board of Trustees (BOT) to ensure uniform policy coordination, standards, and management.
16 campuses were established around the country. The BOT, with the DOST Secretary as the Chairman, is the highest policy-making body of the PSHS System. The Office of the Executive Director (OED) acts as the central office for systemwide communication, collaboration, policy implementation, and monitoring of the operations of PSHS campuses.
